Learners from the local German school participate in fun activities

Teachers and assistants from Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) organized one of the school’s many joint activities – the “Spielefest” – for kindergarten and primary students.

On November 19, preschool and primary schoolchildren from the German school in Parktown took part in the “Spielefest”. Games such as walking on stilts, skiing and skipping have been played, to name a few.

Annette Holtmann, school marketing manager, said: “At Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg, we want to make the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible for our learners.

“As part of this process, many joint activities are organized throughout the year for preschoolers and elementary school students.

Participating learners completed many wonderful games and obstacle courses and collected stamps for their playing cards.

“Taking a new step and entering uncharted waters without knowing what to expect is a challenge for everyone, just like [it can be difficult for our preschoolers moving up into Grade 1]. By playing these games, we are teaching learners how to deal with these obstacles, ”said Holtmann.

The day was filled with fun activities during which the preschoolers enjoyed spending time with the elementary students and getting to know them in a fun and stress-free environment.

Holtmann concluded: “It was a great day, thank you to all the teachers and assistants involved in organizing all the activities. “
